I’ve been craving black hair for a while now.
I know I know.
I’ve just never really had jet black hair and I really felt like I could rock it. So, I had to find a way to make it happen without permanently dyeing my hair. Because frankly, I still want my highlights. Yes, I want to eat my cake and have it.
I don’t know where I stumbled on Natur Vital Colour Hair Mask. All, I knew was I had found my solution.
According to them,
In just 20 minutes, the mask restructures, softens and leaves the hair with an intense black shine. The result is soft, moisturized and shiny hair with a ‘Touch of Color’ that revives the hair’s natural look. Especially recommended for natural or dyed black hair. Compatible with permanent dyes. The color effect gradually fades over 3 to 4 washes.
Use: After washing, apply the mask to wet hair. Comb through from roots to ends and leave to work for 20 minutes. Meanwhile, wash your hands with soap and water to prevent any possible colour transfer. Finish by rinsing the hair well.
Recommendations: Can be used as often as wished. More frequent use will intensify the result. In the case of dyed hair, a development time of 10-15 minutes is sufficient. To maintain the color effect, we recommend using NaturVital Henna Shampoo for Black Hair.
Ingredients: Aqua, Cetearyl Alcohol, Henna Extract, Wheat Germ Oil, Pathenol, Parfum, Propylparaben
It was in a bottle which is easy to use. All that is required is to squeeze the bottle and the product is out. It has a very dye-ish scent. A mild version of chemical dyes. Good thing is that it’s not too intense.
Can I just say that I love how detailed the directions are. It’s concise, straight to the point and actually useful. So much that I followed the directions. Except combing maybe.
As directed, I co-washed and then applied the product to my hair in sections. I thought I was going to need gloves. Turns out the stains weren’t that intense. They were washable. Then I left it in my hair for an hour before I rinsed out because I like to do the most. After rinsing out, I expected softer, moisturized black hair.
Let’s just say I had high expectations. There was nothing in the ingredient list that indicated a moisturizing agent so I wasn’t gonna get it and my hair responds to products well. So, if it wasn’t soft, the product wasn’t moisturizing. Heck, I wasn’t even expecting the henna extract to do some magic given my experience with henna. I just needed that extra thing that would stand out for me.
Eventually, I had to deep condition with my Nubian Roots Deep Conditioning Masque to put my hair back in shape.
No, my hair wasn’t black or anything. I might have to exhaust the bottle before seeing any visible results. I actually look forward to it. Problem is, I have to deep condition afterwards which means a triple journey to the bathroom. (Wash/Co-wash, Mask, Deep condition – all require rinsing out compared to my single journey of Deep condition/Co-wash). The other option is to use it on every wash day until my hair is black.
I think it’s a decent product as it’s affordable and readily available.
