Product review: St Ives blemish control apricot facial scrub

This is one of those products I bought because everyone was raving about it. I did not need it. My baking soda was doing just fine.

Product Promise
Prevents Blemishes and Minimizes Pores
From America’s #1 Scrub brand with 100% Natural Exfoliants, this scrub deeply cleans pores and helps stop breakouts before they occur.

Active Ingredient – Salicylic Acid

Water, walnut shea powder, glycol stearate SE, glycerine, sodium lauryl sulfoacetate, corn kernel meal, cetearyl alcohol, apricot fruit extract, lanolin alcohol, fragrance, e.t.c.

How I Used
Initially, I started using it twice a week, but overtime I missed my baking soda so I went back to using it once a week. I apply it on my dry face and leave it for about 5-10 minutes before scrubbing out.

I have no doubt that this is a decent facial scrub. I particularly love the fact that it has a soap base so it doubles as a cleanser. I still break out here and there. Nothing major. Just hormonal changes. But I don’t think it’s preventing blemishes like it claims to do even though I’m not acne-prone. The tiny granules makes for a mild but somewhat deep facial scrub even though my face still feels the same.

It feels like I would have gotten more from it if I was acne-prone. But I’m not and for that it did a decent job. But once in a while, baking soda gets old so this is a good alternative. Will I be repurchasing? I’m not sure.
