Introducing new bloggers: the amazing Uzoma!

We’re excited to introduce a new blogger to the Sizzelle Team! We’re even more so because it’s Uzoma!

Find out more about her in this short Q&A session!

P.S: Her fave cheat meal makes our stomachs grumble.

Q: Could you tell us about yourself, current projects you’re involved in?

I’m Uzoma and I’m continuously working towards getting a healthy head of hair. I document my journey and some things I learned along the way at

Here are a few random facts about me:

I LOVE watching TV series. I prefer them to movies. Since moving to Nigeria, I’ve had to resort to watching them after they air in the US. I really miss watching them live.
I also like to read and do research. If I ever have a question or something I’m not sure about, I just go to Google. Back in the olden days before Google, I was always looking things up in the library. I am a huge nerd. I also love science.

Q: Could you walk us through your hair care routine?

I think my hair regimen has gotten much simpler over the years. Normally, I shampoo and condition my hair every 7 – 10 days. Most often than not, I’m deep conditioning. I use a mild protein treatment at least once a month. I typically use a protective style, like a roll-tuck-pin or mini twists. I’m a new natural so I’m looking for interesting ways to style my hair. I moisturize my hair every 1 – 2 days, depending on how my hair feels. I usually dust my ends once a month and do a major trim every 3 months. My ends split very easily so I really have to keep up with my trims. I used to do my major trims myself but now I want to start going to a salon for them.

Q: You’ve got great skin, what’s your skin care process?

Thanks for the compliment. I didn’t always have the best skin. Acne, scars, and hyperpigmentation were familiar territory. My skin got better as I got older and I found some products that work well with my skin. I wash my face with black soap and use my Clarisonic brush a few times a week to exfoliate. Next, I tone with a mixture of apple cider vinegar and aloe vera juice. I also use a vitamin C serum, a day moisturizer, and a night moisturizer.

My internal health also affects my skin. I try to drink at least 2 liters of water a day. At a point, I was up to 3 L which is more suitable for my height and weight. I use masks from time to time. I usually use bentonite clay mixed with aloe vera juice and some essential oils. Recently, I got a honey, cinnamon, and turmeric mask/scrub from Ewami Essentials which is also really nice.

Q: Are you a product junkie?

I’d like to say that I’m a recovering product junkie. When I started taking care of my hair, I would buy or want to buy every recommended product. Some worked and some didn’t. All these products gave me a chance to see what worked well with my hair. These days, I have fewer products and focus on what I need at the moment.

Q: What is your favorite drink?

I like coffee (not Nescafe, real coffee from beans). My favorite coffee drink is a vanilla latte.

Q: What Nigerian brand are you feeling at the moment?

There are so many great Nigerian brands. I really like Natural Nigerian products. Everything I have bought from them has been of high quality. The brand is working on more formulated products so I’m excited to see what they put out next.

Q: What is your favorite cheat meal?

A fully loaded chicken burrito. I really, really like burritos. If anyone knows where I can get a good one in Lagos, please tell me. 🙂

Haha! This picture is perfect for everything!
