Wash day chronicles: multani mitti and neem

At the just concluded Lagos International Trade Fair, I was gifted free samples of Hawaiian Silky 14 in 1 Miracle Worker as well as BioCare Naturals Shampoo and Curl Defining Custard by the good people of Hawaiian Silky because they had run out of the bottles. In a haste to try out this products, I co-washed my hair and applied Hawaiian Silky 14 in 1 in sections. When I was done moisturising, I put my hair in bantu knots.

After about two days, I took them down and fluffed my hair. A couple of hours later, I noticed that my scalp was mildly itchy. Where did that come from? My scalp hadn’t been irritated in a long time. Anyways, I realised that I must have been reacting to the products which meant that I needed to wash my hair…fast!

I endured till the next day and decided on a clay mask. I needed something to thoroughly cleanse my scalp as well as condition and moisturize it.

When I was ready, I mixed up the following ingredients into a nice paste:
Multani mitti
Neem
Aloe vera gel
– Honey
Vo5 conditioner
Apple cider vinegar
– Extra virgin olive oil
Eucalyptus oil

I applied the mix on my hair and left it for about an hour plus. I also applied the leftover on my face. When I was done, I rinsed out with cold water and moisturized my hair using the LOC method. I finished up with flat twists.

I don’t know why exactly I reacted to those products because I’ve used Hawaiian Silky 14 in 1 previously. It’s probably the curling custard. Anyhow, the Apple Cider Vinegar and Eucalyptus Oil helped to clarify and soothe my scalp.
