How I Treat an Itchy Scalp

Letter from a transitioner

November 21, 2014

Letter: Many people had said it won’t be easy but I still started the journey anyway. The road has been kinda tough. First it was a battle of conditioners, this or this………now it’s choosing the best protective style that will keep my hair from breaking. I’m tempted to do a big chop real quick but I’m emotional about losing the length I have already grown. My  mum reminds me everyday that…

Secondly, I’ve been pretty busy with so many things. Plus, I dreaded having to edit the pictures and do this post. Since I am so…

What is hair product buildup?

August 18, 2014

Product buildup is basically a gradual accumulation of products on the hair strands. Your hair will look flat and also feel as if it’s coated. Even when your hair has been freshly washed, it will still look dull and dirty with no shine. In addition, your hair might be difficult to style. What happens is that the accumulated product doesn’t allow necessary moisture, oils and other nutrients to penetrate your hair. When…

If you’ve been reading my posts, you’ll notice that I like to use essential oils for my hair. The reason I do this because of a scientific study I found online. I think it was conducted in the University of Maryland. This is the link to the study and I’ve summarised it below: Objective: To investigate the efficacy of aromatherapy in the treatment of patients with alopecia areata. Design: A randomized, double-blind,…

Hairline challenge June 1st – August 30th, 2014

May 30, 2014

I did a ponytail last week and I noticed that a little corner of my edges had ‘chopped’. I wasn’t so sure and I let it slide. However, when I was washing my face before bed a few days ago, I saw it properly. I have decided to take some time to pamper my edges and hopefully, it will fill out again. My ‘Suspect offenders’ Hair bonnets Scarves Hats My…
