Scalp Massages: How to do a scalp massages and benefits

So I promised that I’d leave this post as soon as I could on the blog for those who missed out on our Facebook live. I apologize for the mini hiatus from the blog, I have been trying to live the post-graduate baby girl lifestyle but I’m over it. I’ll be telling you about scalp massages, how to do one and its benefits.

Scalp massages are massages for your scalp. A massage is generally the rubbing and kneading of muscles and joints of the body with the hands or a massager especially to relieve tension or pain and improve blood circulation. What has scalp massages got to do with hair growth? Improved circulation to hair follicles promotes growth. A scalp massage can be done at any point in time.

Mini Story: I noticed that no matter what I did, the left side of my hair grew faster and longer than the right side and this was because I am a default lefty sleeper (I sleep on my left side) so there’s a lot more circulation.

HOW TO DO SCALP MASSAGES

Scalp massages can be done with oils like Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Jamaican Black castor oil, Jojoba Oil, Grapeseed Oil and other essential oils. Please dilute any essential oil in a carrier oil before using. See my post on essential oils here.

You can use your hands to do a scalp massage, all you need to do is to use the pads of your fingers and work the oil into your scalp, using circular motions. Slow movements are relaxing while steady but vigorous movements enhances circulation.

Another way to do a scalp massage is by using a massager. I got mine from Savvy & Chic Hair and Beauty Hub. Thanks Aunty Dabs!! Using a scalp massager is easier for me because I get to cover more scalp than using my hands and I can go as vigorous without my arms or hands hurting.
