Product Review: Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque

I know I’m all about the DIY business but I just decided to try something new – specifically a mud/clay mask and this was the first thing I could lay my hands on plus the ingredient list was pretty safe and decent.

Full Name:
Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque. Complexion solution. Deeply cleans and refreshes. Oily and acne prone skin.

First impressions.
I particularly love the fact that it comes in a tube which helps to control usage and contain wastage. Secondly, it has a minty scent which smells like toothpaste.

Product Promise.
Our original all-time favorite green masque instantly absorbs excess oil, extracts impurities and helps minimize the appearance of pores. After use, skin is deeply clean with a fresh oil-free and healthy looking complexion.

Directions:
Apply over cleansed face. Avoid eye areas. After 5 to 10 minutes, rinse with water.

Ingredients:
Aqua (Water), Kaolin, Bentonite, Glycerine, Zinc Oxide, Propylene Glycol, Mentha Viridis(Spearmint) Leaf Oil, Sulfur, Methylparaben, Phenoxyethanol, Limonène, Fragrance(Parfum), Chromium Oxide Greens(CI77288).

My experience.
Contrary to the directions, I applied pea sized quantities – a little goes a long way which is also why it’s a good investment. It will last for a long time – on my face without cleansing previously. I figured if it was gonna deeply clean my face, why do I need to cleanse beforehand again? After application, I noticed a rather strong sensation which of course is as a result of the Spearmint leaf oil and maybe a bit of sulfur. Nevertheless, it wasn’t something I could not handle. I also loved the fact that it didn’t take forever to dry. It dries on application instantly. Plus, I didn’t see the need to leave it for a long time. So after about15 minutes, I rinsed out which also quite easy. When I was done, my face felt refreshed, thoroughly clean and not excessively dry. I didn’t even need to cleanse again, just moisturize.

Verdict.
It got the job done and stayed true to its promises. Easy to apply, easy to rinse out. So yeah, it definitely is a staple. Although they didn’t specify the frequency of use, I’m sticking to twice weekly.
