In recent times, the natural hair movement in Nigeria has made significant progress. Right now, the industry is growing in leaps and bounds and one can only marvel. With an evolving industry comes enterprises. People are now looking inwards rather than looking outwards for products and tools.
Nigerian Natural Hair Products is a curated directory which showcases the very best natural hair products formulated and manufactured in Nigeria. The brand seeks to bridge the gap between producers and consumers of natural hair products in Nigeria.
When I first heard about this, I thought it was a fantastic idea. To be honest, I can’t count the number of times people have asked me for what products to use but now I could easily direct them to the NNHP page where they would get the right product recommendations for their regimens or a hair issue.
A quick scroll down the page shows the number of new indigenous brands popping up everyday, brands I’ve never really heard about but are doing great things by providing products in their own little way. Forget the branding and the packaging, sometimes, it’s the content that counts. As long as the products are well formulated and effective, I don’t think there’s a problem. There’s always room for improvement.
Also, on the NNHP page, you won’t see products made outside Nigeria even though they are currently ruling the space now. Their major goal is brand awareness because frankly, a lot of people still do not know that we have good products for natural hair that are almost at par with their foreign counterparts. We might not be there yet but the rate at which we are going, I wouldn’t be surprised if we get to that standard sooner than we imagine.
Finally, we know the economy is currently in shambles. It won’t be a bad idea to grow the naira.
So, go support. Tag your friends who can’t afford to get products because trust me, there’s a wide selection for every budget.Ebun Oluwole, All rights Reserved. Written For: Get your Sizzelle on!
