Your hair is? Relaxed? Natural? ‘Texlaxed’? Transitioning?
When and why did you start your hair journey? How do you deal with people who doubt you? What motivates you to keep going?
I started my journey about 2 years ago, I did so because I was just tired of having to relax my hair every 2 weeks. I had stubborn hair and no matter how strong a relaxer was, it never worked on my hair so I just decided not to relax it at all. I did nothing to my hair aside braids, I never did weave because I am not a fan. I did not relax my hair for over 6 months and later I trimmed the relaxed part which was longer than the natural part. Even as it was painful to do that, I just had to. At that point, I knew nothing about natural hair and all I wanted to do was stop relaxing my hair. My parents still think it’s silly and find it hard to accept my hair as it is and people still find it hard to believe my hair is natural just because of the fullness and length.
Do you do protective styles or leave your hair down?
I do lots of protective styles. For my kind of hair, leaving it down is almost impossible except I want to pull an afro which I really don’t do much.
Do you have any hair goals? How are you working to achieve them? Or have you already achieved them? How did you achieve them?
Yes I do have hair goals and I am working to achieve them.
What do you love most about your hair?
I just love that people can look at my hair and be like “WOW! How do you take care of your hair?” I always love the surprised look on their faces. I love everything about my hair and I won’t trade it for any other type of hair not even another type 4c hair.
What personal struggles or challenges have you experienced during your hair journey?
I experience a whole lot when it comes to achieving the exact type of style I want after watching a video on YouTube. Getting my hair in a ponytail is also a struggle. Sometimes I just want to do something simple with my hair but its fullness and thickness make even the simplest style a struggle. Twist outs don’t always come out perfect even if though I spend a whole lot of time twisting my hair.Sizzelle Online Store, All rights Reserved. Written For: Get your Sizzelle on!
