When and why did you start your hair journey? How do you deal with people who doubt you? What motivates you to keep going?

I did my first big chop in 2013. I started because I was seeing people on their long, full natural hair and it looked really pretty to me. Plus I assumed natural hair equals long hair haha! I don’t really care about people who doubt me. I do things for myself so those opinions doesn’t really matter lol. And I stay motivated when I see how healthy my hair has been since my big chop. It’s cute really.

Do you do protective styles? Or leave your hair down?

My hair is almost always in one protective style or the other. As much as I love my hair, I don’t have the time to baby it if I was leaving it out often. So I mostly wear wigs or two strand twists like I am at the moment.

Do you have any hair goals? How are you working to achieve them? Or have you already achieved them? How did you achieve them?

My current hair goal is to reach bra strap length before my 3rd anniversary. Although I did my first big chop in 2013, I ended up cutting my hair again in September 2015. So I’m hoping to hit bra strap by September of this year. Currently past armpit length so I’m close. Let’s see how that goes. To achieve this, I make sure to keep my hair moisturized as often as I can. I also recently started using protein conditioners every 2 weeks cos I’ve found that it helps my hair break less. Low manipulation is also very key to me.

Do you have a hair regimen? If you do, what is your daily, weekly and/or monthly hair regimen?
Yes I do have a Regimen. I try to spritz my hair with water every other day then seal with whipped butter. Every two weeks, I cleanse my scalp, deep condition my hair, moisturize, seal and put it back in a protective style. Most of the time, I incorporate tea rinses and rice water rinses to my wash day. I also lightly dust the ends of my hair every two weeks to get rid of SSK or split ends.

What are your top 5 hair products?
Hmm my favorite hair products change over time cos I like to switch things up but at the moment, I love;
  • Cantu Natural hair leave in conditioner
  • Shanyi organics moisturizing milk shake
  • Kui care leave in mist
  • Shea moisture Raw shea butter deep treatment masque

Where do you usually purchase your hair products?
I mostly purchase my hair products from the stores in my area. When they don’t have something I need, I go online.

What do you love most about your hair?
What I love most about my hair is that it represents my style really well. My fro is beautiful lool

What personal struggles or challenges have you experienced during your hair journey?

Somehow I’ve never been able to achieve a perfect twist/braid out. I think I have no curl pattern lol. Also my hair sheds a little too much for my comfort and I have to make extra efforts to tackle this shedding.
