My oil stash has gradually evolved to what it is today. After a series of trial and errors, I think I’ve finally found my staple oils which serve me all round from dental care to skincare, hair and whatnot.
1. Coconut oil
I use this as a base for all my mixtures whether hair or skin. It’s absolutely important that it is included regardless of the quantity added.
I have incredibly dry skin so I use lots of glycerine for my body lotion as well as my spray bottle during the warm season.
3. Sweet almond oil
This is my holy grail facial oil. Apart from the fact that it’s unbelievably light weight, I love that it’s non-greasy and fully absorbs into my skin. Plus it helps with acne scars. It’s a win-win situation.
4. Grapeseed oil
This is one of my latest addition to the stash. It’s also very light weight and takes a comfortable spot in my applicator bottle. It’s the second most important oil in my facial moisturizer.
5. Tea tree oil
This was my very first essential oil. Its anti-bacterial properties particularly help with my itchy scalp plus it’s also a great addition to my homemade deodorant. It keeps my pits fresh all day. It’s a staple.
6. Lavender oil
The first time I bought this essential oil, I used it for everything! From my bath to my body butter and even as a diffuser. The lavender scent can take your product from 0 – 100 real quick!
7. Rosemary oil
I’m currently taking turns to try out various essential oils and the latest one is rosemary oil. I haven’t really explored all of the possibilities but in the meantime, it’s serving my scalp.
I’ve currently run out of the following oils but there are also staples.
8. Castor oil
Since the beginning of my hair journey, the clear castor oil has been serving my edges even as they’re in good condition. I’m looking forward to trying the Jamaican Black Castor Oil.
9. Sunflower oil/Sesame oil
I use either of these oils for two things – oil pulling and as additions to my body scrub. This is why I buy them in large quantities. Just check your cooking oil section, you’ll find gallons of them for cheaper prices.
10. Eucalyptus oil
Ever since my parents recommended this oil to me, I have used about 5 bottles. That’s how important it is to me. It helps clear my respiratory tract and also relieves mild migraines plus the menthol is awesome for my scalp.
