DIY Whipped Shea Butter Recipe

Anyone that doesn’t know about the greatness that is Shea butter probably lives under a rock.

While writing one of my previous posts on my updated facial regimen, I realised that something was missing. I had successfully gotten replacements for my face leaving my body behind. So I decided that I was gonna do something about it and whip some body butter for myself.

Ideally you need just enough unrefined shea butter, your favorite topical and essential oils and your mixer.

1) Scoop raw shea butter in a stainless steel plate.

2) Place the plate in a pot of boiling water and leave it to melt. You can also add your solid coconut oil to melt or wait it for the liquid shea butter before pouring it.

3) Allow the liquid shea butter to solidify a little. You can put it in the freezer to hasten the process.

4) Use a hand mixer to whip continuously until fluffy. You should have a light buttery consistency.

5) Store in a cool dry jar.

When you’re done, you should have something similar to this depending on the consistency you want.

I’ve decided to start with coconut oil and sweet almond oil. Overtime, I’ll be adding more products and oils.
