Benefits Of Amla Powder For Hair

I have not used Amla powder on its own before. I always end up mixing it with another ayurvedic powder, in this case, it has been henna. But the last time I visited my favorite supplier and saw it sitting quietly on the shelf, I knew it was time to try it alone.

How I used it

As a result of my bad experience using some Ayurvedic powders alone (remember my wash day disaster?), I decided to mix it with my usual Multani Mitti. I hoped the Multani powder would absorb the effects. Well, it turned out okay. My hair was nicely detangled and cleansed. I almost didn’t need to deep condition.

So, here’s what you should know about Amla powder.

According to the Hair Buddha,

Amla, an excellent hair tonic, has played a key role in long, thick, and beautiful hair of Indian women. This wonderful berry acts as a natural conditioner, minimizes hair loss and greying, and encourages strong and healthy hair growth.

Very nice.

What exactly are the benefits?

1. It promotes hair growth.

The minerals and vitamins present in Amla helps strengthen hair follicles, increase scalp circulation, and stimulate healthy new growth.

2. It reduces premature graying.

Amla helps to renew pigmentation in hair and makes it darker and thicker. It has been used as an effective ingredient in natural hair dyes and other hair nourishing products.

3. It helps with dandruff and scalp conditions.

Amla aids in healthy scalp maintenance. It has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, and astringent properties that help prevent inflammatory scalp condition and keep dandruff away.

4. It is an excellent hair conditioner.

Apparently, amla is one of the world’s oldest hair conditioners. When used as a hair rinse, it nourishes, conditions, and adds amazing shine and luster to your hair. It is also another excellent way to deep condition your hair.

Ohh that explains the nice texture of my hair when I was done. Bottom line, Amla is fantastic really. I’m thinking of stocking up on it now.
