I’m a shampoo girl. I’ve tried other methods of cleansing such as ACV rinses, water-only washing, co-washing and many more and they are all good methods but my hair just loves sulphate shampoos. Whatever your preferred cleansing method is, here are the benefits to regularly cleansing your hair.
Water adds moisture to the hair, so regular cleansing keeps your hair moisturised.
The shampooing motion stimulates the scalp and this promotes growth.
Regular cleansing prevents clogging of hair follicles, which gives room for the growth of new hair.
Deep conditioning is leaving conditioner on your hair for a longer period of time. A typical deep conditioning session should last for about 30 mins and the benefits of this cannot be overstated! The deep conditioner fills in any holes in your hair as a result of wear and tear, making it stronger and less prone to breakage. It also leads to softer, more manageable and bouncy hair.
Ok so I’m not a huge fan of protective styling, but there is no doubt that it plays a part in hair growth. Protective styling is basically keeping your hair especially the ends tucked away to prevent breakage and retain length. Braids, weaves, wigs, buns and twists are all protective styles, do give them a try but don’t forget to let your hair down sometimes. 🙂 😉
DRY HAIR BREAKS! In between washes if your hair feels dry go ahead and re-moisturise with your leave-ins and oils or you could do a co-wash, this will def put the moisture back in your strands.
Finally I’ve gotta say don’t stress so much about growth. It’s so annoying when you feel like your hair isn’t growing but follow the above tips, be consistent and patient and you’d see your hair transform.
